Join Us for the February Klamath Film Member Meeting with Special Guest Craig “Kif” Sanborn!
Klamath Film is excited to welcome Craig “Kif” Sanborn as the featured guest for our February Member Meeting on Thursday, February 20, from 6-8 p.m. at The Growler Guys in Klamath Falls. For those unable to attend in person, the meeting will also be accessible online via Zoom. This event is free and open to the public!
Born in Atlanta, Craig “Kif” Sanborn always aspired to be a director—but he moved to Hollywood instead. Disillusioned by Tinseltown’s grind and the struggles of being an occasionally unemployed twenty-something in Los Angeles, he relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina, working in the locations department for film and television, on a steady stream of commercials, and as a freelance graphic artist.
In 2005, actor/producer Bruce Campbell invited Kif to help produce My Name Is Bruce in Southern Oregon. Afterward, Kif returned to Atlanta and “went corporate” with jobs at Turner Broadcasting and Cartoon Network. Following a layoff (as happens to those who go corporate), he and his wife moved to Portland, where he honed his graphic design skills and became a work-from-home father, effectively retiring from the film industry.
Years later, Campbell once again recruited Kif, from his current whereabouts in Colorado. This time as a Production Designer for Ernie & Emma (2024). Whether he continues to come out of film retirement remains to be seen.
Just don’t get him started on the irony of Atlanta’s booming film industry taking off after he left.
This meeting is a great opportunity to network with local filmmakers, stay updated on Klamath Film news, and hear firsthand about Kif’s unique experiences in film, television, and beyond. Whether you’re a filmmaker, a film enthusiast, or just curious about the industry, you won’t want to miss this event!
We look forward to seeing you there!
