Avery Kayten has led an extraordinary life behind the curtain for decades. Originally from St. Louis, Mo., Avery dropped out of high school and hitch-hiked to Austin, Tx. to start a band. Music not working out, he returned to Missouri to get his GED and attend college, eventually earning a scholarship to Syracuse University.

Afterwards Avery moved to New York and became part of the film crew on Saturday Night Live, working on the iconic TV series for many years before relocating to Los Angeles for many more years in the film industry. Avery has worked extensively as an art director, props maker, and production designer for over 30 years in film and television.

Meet Avery this Thursday and talk about all the craziness behind the scenes in set decoration, props, and all the little things that add up to so much in films.
