A Klamath Film and Ross Ragland Theater event presented by SmithBates Marcomm Solutions.
When young academic Omar (Omar Metwally) arrives unannounced in the exotic landscape of modern day Uruguay to woo famous deceased writer Jules Gund's family in hopes of convincing the heirs to grant him permission to write an authorized biography of Gund, he finds the late author's brother Adam (Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins), tart-tongued widow Caroline (Academy Award nominee Laura Linney), and shy, dreamy mistress Aiden (Cannes Best Actress winner Charlotte Gainsbourg) living together on Gund's family estate Ocho Rios, cut off from the world and guarding a secret history.
Urged by his girlfriend Dierdre (Alexandra Maria Lara), Omar begins to unravel the web of romance, betrayals and heartbreak that lies over the lush grounds of the family's retreat. As he struggles to gain the trust of the heirs, Omar finds himself seduced by the world of Ocho Rios and its inhabitants, and must come to terms with his own desire to break free of the life he's molded for himself but doesn't want to live.
