October Featured Guest: Jesse Blanchard

Jesse Blanchard is the founder of Puppetcore – a puppet-based film studio in Portland that specializes in horror-based shorts, features, and commercial work, and also works with Goat and Yeti – a video production company in Portland that provides creative commercial work. His latest project, “Frank & Zed” took nearly seven years to complete, converting the family garage into a film studio. The project won the Klamath Independent Film Festival 2020 award for BEST NORTHERN FEATURE FILM (even though ultimately we were unable to screen the film at KIFF).

Jesse’s puppetry work on film is a throwback to the practical effects era before CG became prominent, harkening memories of the Jim Henson Studios, particularly the film “The Dark Crystal.”

Klamath Film continues to work to hopefully someday soon present the film “Frank & Zed” at a proper screening in Klamath Falls with Jesse in-house…maybe the next Friday the 13th! Since it’s completion Jesse’s film has been screening at select film festivals and garnering rave reviews for its madcap collection of gore, comedy and puppetry. Imagine if Young Frankenstein was made with puppets. Crazy, campy, bloody, hilarious, and like nothing we’ve ever seen before — you can stream it online for your Halloween activities.
