KIFF2022: 10th Annual Klamath Independent Film Festival
The Klamath Independent Film Festival continues its run as the leading all-genre, Oregon-centric film festival, presented for the third year both in-person and on-demand/livestreaming!
For the 2022 rendition we plan to be even bigger and better, expanding on last year's virtual offerings and more. With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing we are closely monitoring theater restrictions, but plan to continue our hybrid online festival presentation while bringing back our opening night street festival. The ever-popular custom awards designed by local artists in the Southern Cascade Woodcrafters Guild will also return in 2022, along with a few new surprises.
The 2022 Klamath Independent Film Festival will once again be held at The Ross Ragland Theater in Klamath Falls, Ore., Sept. 16-18, 2022. Activities will include an opening Friday street festival, a day of feature films on Saturday, and a full slate of shorts on Sunday culminating with our festival awards.
Every on-stage event will be livestreamed, and all films will be available to view on-demand for a limited time after the festival with exclusive filmmaker Q&As online - all thanks to the Eventive Virtual Festival platform. Watch the entire festival from the comfort of home via computer, tablet, phone, Apple TV, or Roku.
Celebrating, growing, and bringing attention to filmmakers is our primary purpose. We program and award Northern and Southern films separately in order to give the greatest opportunity for filmmakers to be seen and recognized for their work. We aim to pass our success back to filmmakers through awards and promotion, both of which increase as our success increases. KIFF2022 will feature $5,000 in prize money! Southern films: shot predominantly in, or by residents of Oregon (and California counties on the Oregon/California border): All submitters, regardless of whether their film is selected for the festival or not, are entitled to two (2) free Weekend Passes (Saturday/Sunday), in order to bring filmmakers together and encourage them to meet/network/see each other's work!Awards & Prizes

BRING THE SALMON HOME
Directed by Shane Anderson - Portland, OR6:40 pm SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 18, 2022 - ROSS RAGLAND THEATER
Bring the Salmon Home captures the emotions, courage, and determination of Klamath River tribal communities as they host a 300+ mile run from ocean to headwaters to cultivate support for the biggest river restoration project in history – the removal of four Klamath River dams. The Klamath Salmon Run began in 2003, a year after dams, diversions, and drought led to a traumatizing fish kill that littered the banks of the Klamath with dead salmon for miles. Now, a historic drought grips the basin further stressing communities and fisheries. Started by local youth, the event has become an important way for the many small communities along this remote river in far northern California to find solidarity in the struggle to protect their salmon and their way of life. With regulators poised to approve dam removal plans later this year, runners are now racing into a future of hope and optimism.
Directed by Shane Anderson. Filmed in Klamath Falls, OR.
